Time in the world of Avaria flows similarly to that of Earth, with a year of 365 days and distinct seasons that nevertheless vary from one region to another. Avarian time also has a direct 1:1 correspondence to real time (US EST or EDT), though the standard calendar used by most Avarians in the hemisphere makes use of distinctly named weekdays and months. The Avarian New Year also begins on April 1st, after an eleven-day spring equinox festival season.
Months of the Year
The same basic calendar is used across much of the known world, with twelve months of 28-31 days that correspond to real-world months. The names of the months differ between the two most widely used calendars, the Sirdabi and the Kalentoi, but they nevertheless share the same zodiacal signs. The Sirdabi calendar is used throughout the lands of the caliphate and also across portions of northern, central, and northeastern Idiri. The Kalentoi calendar is not only used throughout the empire but across virtually the whole of Ruvera.

Days of the Week
There are seven days in each week, again corresponding to the real-time week. The days of the week are named for the most important celestial bodies in the Avarian sky, and are uniform across the known world.

Hours of the Day
Few people in Avaria possess personal clocks or watches, and telling time with precision is not a matter of pressing concern for most. Consequently, rather than adhering to a strictly measured clock time the Avarian day is conventionally divided into "hours" of different lengths, which are based simply on the passage of the day and the progress of the sun across the sky. This being the case, the beginning and end of many of these hours shift somewhat from one season to the next, while others are fixed by convention.
