Southsward
The Archdiocese of Southsward is the warmest and pleasantest part of the Kingdom of Ensor, lying within the overall milder climate of the Adelantean Sea. The summers are warm here but not too hot, and tend to linger well into fall. The winters are notably less pleasant, tending to be cold and wet, with numerous storms and freezing fogs sweeping in from the coast. Together with the low-lying portions of Aurindell, Southsward makes up the breadbasket of the kingdom.
Southsward is the most diverse part of Ensor in terms of cultural heritage, having once been the westernmost stronghold of the great Ruveran Empire, as well as having harboured numerous colonies and trading depots in the days when the Adelantean was a friendlier sea and traveling upon it safer. The Cateni blood of the Ruveran conquerors is still widespread among the nobility of eastern Ensor, and many of the region's great houses were founded in those long-ago days. Southsward still is home to many of the most powerful families in the kingdom, and the center of power also resides here, given physical form in the great capital city of Imbryck.
