The Amunati cat is a breed of domestic cat native to Amunat. Often simply called mau, meaning "cat" in the ancient Amunati tongue, the cat is widespread throughout that province but can also be found nearly anywhere in the Sirdabi Caliphate. The Amunati themselves once held it in the highest esteem, treating both temple cats and pets with a mix of deference and affection, and mummifying them upon their death. They continue to be very fond of the breed today, sometimes even keeping a "mosque mau" as they once had cats in their temples.
