Jalanjhur
Considered a demicontinent, Jalanjhur is nevertheless a sizeable landmass in which a vast variety of terrain and landscapes can be found. Although famed for the near-trackless jungles that crowd its northern and eastern coasts, it also contains plains and plateaus, broad river valleys, rough hills and towering mountains, and one of the emptiest deserts in the world at its heart. Numerous island chains also belong to Jalanjhur, from the beautiful Honey Isles of the Sea of Sala'ah to the archipelago nation of Sanjahra that lies in the turbulent sea of the same name. Precious items -- gems, spices, tropical hardwoods, and more -- flow out of Jalanjhur, but its extensive commercial ties with the lands of Ruleska, Riendu, and Idiri include trade in more prosaic goods such as iron and steel, paper and papyrus, and grain as well. Though most merchants do not move beyond the demicontinent's extensive coastline, it is nevertheless a busy crossroads of cultural and material exchange.
Political Units of Jalanjhur
Most people of Jalanjhur dwell within one of its many kingdoms whose independence from one another has been encouraged by the extremely varied terrain and numerous natural boundaries and obstacles. Although there are numerous fine cities spread throughout the continent, village life lies at the heart of Jalanjhuri culture, and the character of the land is largely rural and agrarian.
