Wolf

The wolf is a medium to large canid found across nearly all of Ruvera and into parts of Ruleska as well. It is well known for living and hunting in packs, and is often the object of fear and awe to the humans it lives among.

Dire Wolf

The dire wolf is an especially large and fearsome wolf that chiefly roams the mountains and plateaus of Ruleska. Although not abundant in any part of its range, it is by far the most common in the Tin Chalun mountains. Dire wolves are big and powerful enough to take down even large prey on their own and so are encountered as solitary animals more often than many other wolves. Nevertheless they seldom live a genuinely solitary life, and almost always share a home range with other members of a pack, however widely dispersed they may sometimes be.

Moonwolf

The moonwolf is a rather small and slender type of wolf, less powerfully built than the far more common gray wolf and with a narrower skull and muzzle. Moonwolves typically have a black or sable pelt with silver guard hairs which gives them a darkly shimmering appearance. These pelts are prized for their rare beauty, to the degree that trapping and hunting have likely led to its departure from more populated lands. This being the case, moonwolves are found most commonly in remote areas such as the Moonfall Mountains that lie between the Midlands and Merouen, the lower reaches of the High Hinterlands, and the heights of the Sentinel Range of the Great Hazari Desert in north Idiri.
