Bikuna is perhaps the finest as well as the most expensive wool known. It is exquisitely soft and downy feeling, as well as lightweight, but also highly resistant to moisture and exceptionally warm. No one is sure what sort of creature bikuna comes from, as it arrives at Adelantean markets through the action of numerous middlemen, and always as a finished bolt of cloth. Informed sources believe it originates somewhere in the Idiri interior, as it is often obtained from Xhalantu traders. Due to its expense and the small quantities available, use of bikuna wool is typically restricted to smaller garments such as scarves, shawls, and socks. Like one woven from the best silk, a scarf made of bikuna is fine enough to be drawn through a ring. It does not take most dyes, which tend to ruin the wool, but comes in a wide variety of attractive natural shades, including cinnamon, buff, taupe, dove grey, and chocolate.
