Courier & Postal Services

Both the courier and the postal systems allow you to send messages and items to other people. Courier outposts are scattered throughout the land, where you can find courier NPCs waiting to relay your messages. Most towns and cities will also have a post office from which you can send mail to people, or pick up any mail sent to you.

When using a courier, you can send notes, verbally-relayed messages, or parcels up to whatever size the courier is able to carry. When the courier finds the intended recipient, it's possible that anyone else in the same room will overhear any verbal message that is relayed.

For various reasons, a courier may sometimes not be able to find the person whom you wished to deliver to. They intended recipient may be sufficiently far away, such as on another continent or in a distant city, that the courier cannot reach them. They might also be occupied with business that takes them out of the public eye. They might even just be asleep. In any of these cases, the courier may not be able to find them and so will return your parcel, or return to tell you that they are unable to convey your verbal message. If then a courier cannot find you in turn, they will go to the local post office to have your object mailed.

Mail is another way that messages and objects can be sent. Mail can be held and picked up at a local post office, and it can travel over long distances if necessary.
