The leopard is a relatively large but slender feline found throughout much of Idiri and Ruleska. Wherever it lives it is known for its spotted coat and stealthy habits, but it varies somewhat across its wide range in its appearance and the environments it prefers.

Ghost Leopard

The ghost leopard is the most common leopard in Irzal and other mountainous regions of Ruleska. It prefers highland environments with a mix of wooded cover and rocky terrain, and preys on a mix of medium-sized to smaller creatures, from mountain sheep to rock hares. The ghost leopard manages to navigate even the loose scree of stony hillsides with preternatural silence, and it has a very pale coat, dove or silvery grey to a very pale gold, that is thought to give it a wraith-like appearance. Its fur is highly valued for cloaks, hats, and trim for other garments.

Razi Leopard

The Razi leopard is most widespread in the Sirdabi province of Raziya, though isolated populations can be found elsewhere across north Idiri. It favors wooded and brushy environments, especially oases like the Sidi Mircasset and the tangle of wooded canyons in the Sharizaar and Tamrasset massifs. It is slightly smaller than the common savannah leopard of southern Idiri, and its coat usually has a distinctly ruddy hue.

Shadow Leopard

The shadow leopard is really just a rare type of Razi leopard, with a coat so dark that its spots only show as a darker dappling of shadow. It is an object of great dread and superstition, particularly among the people of Omrazir, and it is said to be able to simply materialize out of shadow and melt back into it without a trace.
