Merouen is a large and prosperous kingdom in central Ruvera, as renowned for its high culture and chivalric traditions as it is feared for its strength and territorial aspirations. It is one of the most powerful and influential lands under the aegis of the Kalentoi Empire, and its monarchs are confident enough of their position that they demonstrate significant independence and tend to operate with scant regard for the policies and interests of their imperial masters.

Merouen is presently angling energetically to expand its boundaries, despite official condemnation from distant Calentium. Most notably, the kingdom has recently appropriated the former Volusian lands of Ovelia and Lunastra, giving it better access to the Adelantean.
