Naghrimat

The Naghrimat is a hilly zone located on the western fringe of the Plain of Plenty in Tessere. The winter and early spring rains that water the rest of the plain are both lighter and far more sporadic here, creating a landscape that is overall noticeably drier and less suited to agriculture than the rest of the coast. But an hour's walk up into the high rolling hills behind the town of Sidi Naghrim reveals a strange wonderland of plants found nowhere else, fed by the unusual summer fog called by the locals al-neriyyeh. Unique succulents like lazyleaf and blooddrop abound here, as do trailing herbs such as fogbine that can grow in such abundance that their water-capturing leaves carpet the ground in an earthbound layer of mist. The Naghrimat is also one of the only known places in Avaria where the bizarre gryphon's tongue tree grows, whose resinous sap is used in expensive incense and perfumes.

Although many of these plants and their products are highly sought after and fetch a very high price in markets near and far, they are conscientiously harvested and zealously guarded by the inhabitants of Sidi Naghrim, as well as some of the pastoral tribes of the surrounding area which view the place with reverence.
