Omrazir: Dawn (East City)

The half of Omrazir known as Dawn lies on the east side of the River Tamrasset and is the older part of the city. Dawn is characterized by noticeable extremes of wealth, ranging from the refined enclave of the Kingfisher Distract to the decaying White City set atop the Shining Hill. It is also home to the largest part of the city's indigenous population, a mix of the Tessouare, Razmani, and Yehani peoples who have inhabited the area since ancient times.

Most of the east city's architecture consists of adobe or baked-brick structures of two to four stories, arranged cheek by jowl and penetrated by narrow winding streets and still narrower alleyways. The terrain is somewhat gentler than on the city's steep west side, allowing more room for these buildings to spread out in a blanket across the broad descent of the hillside. The overall downward slope of the hill is however interrupted by numerous stony ridgelines and knolls, with the Shining Hill being the largest and most prominent of these.

Dawn is home to some of Omrazir's oldest and most venerated features, including the Wali Djabeli Cemetery, the People's Plaza, the Jumana Bimaristan, and of course the great Temple of Storms which has been central to the community since its earliest days. Although the west side of Dusk may be the modern city's center of culture, learning, and influence, it is the people and places of Dawn who most truly represent the ancient heart of Omrazir.
