River Tamrasset
The River Tamrasset flows through the Sirdabi province of Raziya in northeast Idiri, and is the chief source of water in the region. Despite this the Tamrasset itself is seldom glimpsed, as the river runs undergound and out of sight for the vast majority of its course. The city of Omrazir is the most notable exception, as the flowing channel of the Tamrasset serves as the dividing line between the western Dusk and eastern Dawn halves of the city. Even there, the river still flows beneath ground in certain sections of the city, before finally pouring out its waters into Rassi Bay.
The headwaters of the Tamrasset are in the Great Thirsty Mountains, where much of the rainfall swiftly drains away through cracks and crevices in the ground. The river's flow tends to increase in Ashbat, about a month after the start of the monsoon season, and diminishes gradually until the lesser fall rainy season, when it slightly rises again. Its flow is smallest during the winter months, until the monsoon arrives once more. But thanks to its habit of keeping itself hidden away from the hot sun and dry air, the Tamrasset continues to run steadily during all seasons and is a reliable if secretive source of water for the center of Raziya.
