Wayfare

The Wayfare is a road in the kingdom of Ensor which links the port town of St. Loomis with the capital city of Imbryck. It is a very old route which has been traveled since ancient times, and its few remaining paved portions reveal its use during the days of the Ruveran Empire. But it is the road's somewhat more recent history which has entered it indelibly into the annals of history and legend, for this was the road that was miraculously illumined by the footsteps of Saint Loomis as he bravely crossed it in the days of the Great Dark, thereby forming a saving link between the town formerly called Grey Lea and the capital when it could no longer be reached by ship.

Now poorly maintained and thinly traveled, the Wayfare passes through many leagues of isolated and difficult terrain on its way through the eastern Mistmarches and the southern fringe of Southsward. Most of its sparse traffic consists of couriers and other travelers wishing to avoid the perils of a winter sea voyage, and pilgrims following in the path of Saint Loomis on their way to Windhaven Monastery, the saint's final resting place.
