Wharf District

The Wharf District is located on the north side of Omrazir, fronting on Rassi Bay with the Strait of Sorrows beyond that. Although this constitutes the chief harbor of Omrazir proper, it is very much overshadowed by the nearby village of al-Sakhna, which functions as the city's true port. Nevertheless, the wharf district is still busy with the arrival and departure of passenger ships and freighters carrying especially precious goods -- and in particular, books. Less glamorous but still more vital, many of Omrazir's local fishermen launch their small craft from here, bringing back their hauls to sell in the neighboring Fish Market.

The Wharf District rests at the very bottom of the hill upon which Omrazir is built, and is the lowest point in the city. The great Via Magna begins at the west end of the wharf, and the Via Maris runs east-west above it.

Local Landmarks

The Promenade
Home to numerous small shops as well as much more important establishments such as Customs headquarters, the main wharf of the district is commonly called the Promenade. It is built upon the narrow strip of beach that runs below the last natural terrace of the city, while the buildings that line its south side are perched upon the very edge of the hill itself. A stroll along the Promenade offers an ever-changing kaleidoscopic scene of docking and departing ships, exotic travelers and merchandise, whirling flocks of seabirds, and the throngs of locals who enjoy watching it all as much as vistors do.

Pier of Stars
The westernmost of the district's three piers, the Pier of Stars serves primarily passenger ships along with small cargoes of high-value merchandise.

Fisherman's Pier
Fisherman's Pier is the shortest of the piers, and is located conveniently close to the Fish Market. Local fisherman moor their craft here, and often gather at the fishing shack on the pier's north end.
