Zharalhide is a low- to medium-quality leather, both pliable and highly durable, but somewhat coarser in texture than other hide. It is harvested from the zharal, a large antelope common in desert, arid grasslands, and mountain foothills of both Idiri and Rahoum. Zharalhide is useful for making items that require a combination of both ruggedness and flexibility, and it is often used for all-weather cloaks and mantles, footwear, and even umbrellas. While the hair is usually removed when preparing zharal hide for wear, it is sometimes retained for rugs and upholstery, as it features attractive striped or mottled patterns of black and dove grey or chestnut.

Although city dwellers generally scorn to wear zharalhide for everyday clothing, nevertheless it is widely used by villagers and rural folk across Idiri to fashion skirts, shirts, leggings, capelets, and numerous other everyday garments. When carefully prepared by a skilled leatherworker, zharalhide's coarseness can be significantly reduced while its rugged durability is retained, and like inikiskin it takes dye well. Zharalhide can also be used to craft good-quality leather armor and shields, and also the skins for different types of drums.
