Description

There's something faintly paradoxical about this woman. There's an earthen solidity to her, manifested in the compactness of her form, her light coppery skin, the short and slightly frizzy dark brown hair pulled back in a thin braided tail. And yet at the same time, in her stillness and self-containment, her quiet tread and the habitual darkness of her garb, she seems also to belong to the shadows. But once one truly takes note of her, the poise and dignity of her bearing are striking, and when she moves a fluid grace appears in all her motion. There is a proud cast to her nose and mouth, and a stubborn set to her jaw. Most of all, there is her eyes: not merely dark, but black and liquid as ink, with a gaze both guarded and curiously intense. Just as curious, her low voice possesses a wonderfully melodious cadence which is utterly spoiled by a pebbly rasp.

Public Background

It's hard to tell from looking at Rukhnis just where she's come from, and talking to her doesn't tend to reveal much more to the casual acquaintance. All that it's possible to readily gather is that her origins lie somewhere in the Idiri continent, among one tribe or another of nomads wandering the trackless wastes of one of the land's desert realms. Vague as those details may be, it's a little more certain that she's both trained as a physician and has very extensive experience in that field, and her reputation as a healer of notable skill, knowledge, and compassion swiftly emerges wherever she goes. Oddly enough, it seems that the place from which she's come most recently is Ruvera -- and not just any place in Ruvera, but the rather isolated kingdom of Ensor, where she apparently achieved some fairly exalted position in the College of Physicians of the city of Imbryck. She's also returned with a husband from that land, a somewhat unprepossessing young man by the name of Ras, to whom she nevertheless appears deeply attached. Why she's been where she has and what she means to do now that she's returned to the continent of her birth is anyone's guess.
