IC Songs/Poems 1 of 4

I really enjoy writing in character poetry/songs etc. These are not written by Ariziya and are all old, so feel free to use in game.

This is a religious poem recited across the Caliphate, loosely written in the style of an Islamic Qasida.

Qasida To Annur

As dawn breaks and the sun shines through, I open my eyes to you

I gaze upon your light, Annur, the only light that is true

Morning comes and the world awakes, I open my ears to you

I hear the Song of the ones whose lives are spent within your view

The day moves on and noon arrives, I open my heart to you

I feel your touch upon the world right up to the sky so blue

Evening falls awash with colour, I open my hands to you

I place both palms upon the ground as I bow in prayer anew

As Celeiri moves along its path, I open my mouth to you

I sing in praise of you, Annur, I sing of the prophet too

In my dreams I feel your presence, I open my mind to you

I know that you watch over me in sleep so that I renew

In everything I do, Annur, I open my soul to you

I follow the wisdom of your ways in all that I pursue

This next is hymn of the kind usually sung in mosques and schools where children are present. Slightly inspired by 'All Things Bright And Beautiful' and more modern than the first.

Annur Is The One Who Made It All

Desert dunes stretch to the sky, under your all-seeing eye

Oceans roll to meet horizons, golden when the sun is rising

Grasslands cover vast expanses, grow to foothills and to mountains

Forests spread with trees so tall, Annur is the One who made them all

Flowers bloom about an arbour, ships sail into every harbour

Mice and cats come out at night, every beast within your sight

Dolphins swim within the ocean, each one made with such devotion

Every creature, great and small, Annur is the One who made them all

Razmani and all Sirdabi, Irzali and Amunati

Salawi and Tessouare, all the people everywhere

Elukoi and the Cateni, Irulao and of course, Ravenni

Dwarves and Flower Folk so small, Annur is the One who made them all

Frekki, Kiliku, Hanjamani, Rhodish, also the Yehani

Kajimin and Xiuren, Rovara, Jalanit, Temulen

Milombo and Bissenke too, Ilexi, Xhalanatu

Rusalvi and Angrosh tall, Annur is the One who made them all

Let us not forget the Jinn, those of hot and fiery skin

Every stone and every jewel, every thief and every fool

Every parent, every child, all things tamed and all things wild

Every brick and every wall, Annur is the One who made them all

The last one for now, this also has an educational element and is designed for very young children to teach them about the fundamentals of the Azadi faith, the six-pointed star.

A Child’s Prayer

Sing for God for the God is One

Sing for the bringer of His Song

Say your prayers three times in each day

At dusk and noon, and each daybreak

Seek the Song in all of your life

Through brother, daughter, son and wife

Show all your faith in selfless ways

And honour all our holy days

Solitude should be invited

The body’s needs, unrequited

Sow the seeds and tend the garden

Do not let your spirit harden

Sing for God for the God is One
But listen closer for His Song

An Azadi prayer for those whose songs are ending...

A Prayer For The Dying

Annur, in your gracious light, receive our prayers, perceive our plight

Listen to the ills that plague us, promise your grace will retain us

Listen then, when we do call, upon the truest one of all

Listen when we sing our grief, listen when we sing belief,

Heed us when we bring to you, one whom you must guide anew.

Take them through this veil of tears, far from mortal hopes and fears.

And Annur, our only one, sing of our dead, in all your song.
