Among the crewmember gossip in the galley is the jaw-dropping (and greatly-exaggerated) tale of a dolphin who was recently dragged up on the deck and MURDERED. The vast majority of sailors hearing this tale are horrified, and many worry superstitiously that it's a harbinger of even more terrible luck than the Greenest Dolphin has faced thus far. Some think the Adelantean will wreak vengeance upon the battered vessel, and others see it as a symbol of further financial or political woes.
Many sailors also mention the shipwitch's sacrifice -- none of them are calling him a shitwitch anymore, and while they used to laugh mockingly at his lovelorn pursuit of the 'lady with eyes like endless nours', now they're often heard damning her for stringing the shipwitch along so cruelly. The general sentiment after many of the crew have heard of or seen the shipwitch's goodbye note, is that they know it wasn't the gold-eyed woman who forced the shipwitch into his death -- but rather that she made him a laughingstock beforehand and likely broke his heart by being SUCH A HUSSY.
