Harrowing Evening on Fortuna

Perhaps the final straw that broke the camel's back about the crime that had been spreading out from the White City and threatening the calm of the Via Fortuna, a bloody conflict escalated in the twilight hours of the morning. A knife wielding miscreant decided that the fancy new scarf belonging to the curly-haired cook of the Seaview Pub was a suitable day's earnings and set upon her with deadly intent. Earning themselves little, ultimately, but a slashed throat when met with unexpected force by the young woman's erstwhile companion. Though all parties supposedly left the square still breathing the sanguine stain on the cobblestones speaks to the intensity of the clash.

Witnesses report that a short time later, a figure in a black cloak was spotted carrying that same mugger into the Jumana Bimaristan. With an opened throat and punctured belly, it's nothing short of a miracle that they still live, and there's no guarantee that they'll recover.

The man in the cloak? He looked unharmed.

What's become of the Seaview's cook, however, is unknown; she hasn't been seen since she was dragged off the street, bleeding.

Wherever she had cacooned following the recent conflict, the cook seems stationed again at the Seaview, albeit moving a bit more slowly than her usual springy step. Hopefully hungry customers extend the poor young woman some grace as she gets back to work.
