I believe as long as you have the character's coded first name, you should be able to hire a courier to send something!

Also, if they introduced themselves to you by an alias that is different from their coded first name, and you saved/recognized them under that name, then (I thiiiiink) that alias should work as well. But obviously if you did not use the recognize command, then the alias will not be helpful for the courier.
