A Bright New Year

A new year has arrived, and with the close of the holy weeks of Solitary, the formerly silent streets of Omrazir are now filled with lively talk about the resoundingly stormy end to the old year. Having received such a strong mark of favor from Nirzali, goddess of storms, the signs point to the year ahead being a fortunate one for the city, while even orthodox Azadi agree that God has smiled upon Omrazir with this reminder of the refuge from stormy times which was sought for and found in the city by the Prophet's favorite wife Adwa. All things considered, it seems a good year is in store for the sparkling city by the Strait of Sorrows.

Spring and a new year have come to Ensor, but in St. Loomis the slow ripening of winter-sown crops has done nothing to relieve the hunger stemming from the poor harvest of the autumn past.  The local priests have attempted to sow hope with reminders that the new fruits and grains will soon rise from the ground as surely as Kalen Phoinikos rose anew from the ashes, but this harvest too has been a poor one, and spirits remain low in Loomis County. Requests for aid from Imbryck have been equally fruitless, and the near-silence from the capital has left people both puzzled and bitter as they head into an uncertain year.
