Newbie questions about general in game lore. 1 of 4

Hey everyone! I'm just waiting for my character to get approved, but I thought I'd do some research in the meantime so I can write a better story! Given that all our characters are somewhat educated, are there some basic help files in game that can tell us a little about the general lore that every character would know? Or is that something I need to discover on my own in the Faded Zone?

Since all starting characters come from the Sirdabi Caliphate, the wiki page for it is a great starting place for some basics: Sirdabi Caliphate

Also, perhaps obviously, the wiki pages for your character's particular heritage and land of origin are going to be very valuable.

Other than these, the Intro to the Setting page is also useful, and you might also want to look through the St. Loomis and Ensor pages, since that is where play is currently happening (most from the Sirdabi Caliphate refer to it as An-Sor, though).

Edited to add: Also, check out the Timeline page (accessible via the Guide drop-down)!

Another good thing to check out would be the wiki page for your character's religion. There are currently pages for the most common faiths of the caliphate: Azadi, Elestaarianism, Nirzali

This forum thread may be helpful for figuring out what your character should know about geographical aspects of the world: What Would a Person from the Sirdabi Caliphate Know About...

The timeline on the webpage needs a lot of work, alas. One of the key events everyone in pretty much the whole world should know about is The Great Dark -- the dating system itself is centered around this extremely destructive and traumatic catastrophe.

Other than that, if you have other questions please feel free to post them on the forums or OOCmail them to me! If they are big sprawly intricate questions it may take me a little while to answer them (I AM LOOKING AT YOU INAYA), but I can generally get to smaller ones a little faster. There's a ton of stuff that still needs to be documented better (or at all), so no one should ever feel hesitant about asking.
