Hello all! 1 of 4

I am one of the staff here, and Donna is one of my NPCs! If you end up having a chat with her, it's me. I started playing MUDs when I was 12-13, in the early 2000s, and stopped for a stretch between 2012-2019. I've gotten back into them in the past couple years. My favorite types of games have been Atonement, Parallel, and Shadows of Isildur -- but the game I played the longest was Aetolia. I've learned a lot in MUDs, and made important friends, and built formative memories.

I value storytelling highly and hope to help people tell stories that reflect on our shared humanity, in all its nuanced depth; toxicity, brightness, and growth. I will never take the role of "God" in game, as I believe the fabric of the universe transcends all levels of artificial realities. Also, to be less mystical, I'd like players to see me as a fellow player rather than an all-important high administrator. We're all playing to have fun -- whether I'm loading mobs and sending dreams, or scolding someone for tracking mud into the Seaglass Inn.

Hello! I am another (currently, THE other) staff member here. In Avaria's admin I am, officially, THE MISTSPARROW! I'm the lead worldbuilder and lore person of Avaria, so most things related to the setting are my fault. I have been involved in text-based roleplaying since July 29th, 1996. That means that I have been doing this for over a quarter century (and that I am old)!

I have mostly played RPE games, following my original stint as a free-form RPer in AOL chat rooms. (See, OLD.) I enjoy reading, having an odd sense of humour, and trying to bring some of the magic of real-world histories and cultures into a gaming environment that has been almost entirely dominated by heavily stereotyped medieval Western European settings. I do hope people find a welcoming community in Avaria, and a game that encourages and rewards character development, intricate storytelling, and the exploration of a rich and dynamic world.

Also weather. Please enjoy the weather.
