Well, last update: it turns out it was all part of an  elaborate escape plan.

[You are standing.] (A rangy mongrel is here.) [St Loomis, Open Air Fish Market] South of Market Square, the cobbled main street begins to slope downward at a somewhat steep incline upon which a small wagon might still manage to perilously rattle its way to the dockyards. Here the local fishmongers have taken up their trade, and small tables and stalls with awnings seem to be everywhere, selling everything from pickled herrings and barrels of fresh smelt to massive chunks of newly caught fish that sag over bloodied counters. To the east, one of the dockside warehouses evidently has been purposed as a slaughterhouse, with a large sign above the door painted with the image of a huge bloody steak. ( Townspeople seem to be engaging in the casual entertainment of pelting those constrained by the stocks with rotten vegetables, now and then.) A herring stall has been set up at one side of the square. A pile of wooden crates is looked after by an enterprising lass who loudly hawks rotten vegetables. Clouds streak distantly across the face of the stars. An overpowering aroma of medieval fishmongering clouds the air. Cardinal Exits: north and south Other: a long, low slaughterhouse: wide warehouse door (open) A group of anglers shout raucously to each other across the fish market. the general area [Sirdabi]places ----------------- Area -----------------| In the general area: you north: (20 spaces open) south: (20 spaces open) a herring stall: (10 spaces open) under the herring stall: (5 spaces open) a long, low slaughterhouse: (20 spaces open) another large wooden crate: (5 spaces open) the oak-and-iron town stocks: (5 spaces open) a pile of wooden crates: (10 spaces open)

They're now missing from the stocks at the fish market. Hats off to them, honestly. Godspeed, chums.

Larth extends the sentence but both NPCs look on disapprovingly as loudness ensues

How dare they disapprove after what they done!

Larth the deer tamer, as it didn't run until my character walked near. New paranoid guard recruit? :P

Larth is here. A roe deer is looking around alertly.

The perils of horse ownership:
